VEHICLE WRAP DESIGN GUIDES

You MUST Supply actual photos of all 4 sides of the vehicle in order to choose the correct template. Each vehicle has small "Gotchas" you don't think about such as:

  • Painted or unpainted door handles
  • The back bumper is chrome but the front bumper is painted
  • Toolbox in the back of the truck affects text on the rear window
  • Added fender flare

This is to name a few. Photos of the actual vehicle that will be wrapped allows us to address any potential issues before they arise.

INITIAL ARTWORK SETUP

If You're Designing in Adobe Photoshop:

  • If the vehicle is at 10% use 720dpi. If the vehicle is at full size (100%) use 72dpi.
  • Use the document profile Adobe RGB 1998 (Yes, we design in RGB).
    • Edit > convert to profile > Adobe RGB 1998 Uncheck "Flatten Image to Preserve Appearance"
  • Level the Vehicle: Make sure your rulers are turned on, then drag a guide down to the bottom of the doors. Tilt the entire vehicle until it is straight with the line. This will help to make sure text and logos are straight with the body of the vehicle.

If You're Designing in Adobe Illustrator:

  • Typically, Illustrator vehicle templates are at 20%. First, get them to 10% scale by making sure the chain link is linked between the height and width boxes. Then enter "200%" in one of the boxes which enlarges the template to 10% scale... I know, seems weird but works.
  • Convert document to proper color profiles:
    • File > Document Color Mode > RGB
    • Edit > Assign Profile > Adobe RGB 1998
  • Designing in Illustrator requires the use of clipping masks. Make sure you are familiar with how to use them.
  • Level the Vehicle: Make sure your rulers are turned on, then drag a guide down to the bottom of the doors. Tilt the entire vehicle until it is straight with the line. This will help to make sure text and logos are straight with the body of the vehicle.
